External health (Age Management)
Varicose veins affect a great proportion of the Australian population. Not only are they a problem from a cosmetic point of view, but people with varicose veins often complain of heaviness, dragging, aching and discomfort. Many varicose veins are not suitable for surgery, there may be too many of them, it may not be possible to get the time off work for surgery, the risks of surgery may not seem warranted......the fact is that many patients will benefit in the long-term from injection treatment to their varicose veins.
The procedure is simple: The veins are injected at the Ashbrooke surgery, the leg is bandaged (generally for three days,) and you need to walk for thirty minutes per day in order to assist the collapse of the poorly functioning veins.
Spider Veins. Most women (and some men) have them. They can be the result of hereditary factors and pregnancy and sometimes other causes as well.
Spider veins are mostly thought of as a purely cosmetic problem, but often you also notice that your legs feel heavy, tired and restless. Interestingly enough, sometimes these small spider veins are an indication of problems in the function of the the small blue varicose veins which are underneath and it is these veins which may well be making your legs feel like tree stumps.
Good clearance of both problems requires treatment of both sets of veins, firstly the large and then the small, as the smallest veins are often fed by the large veins. Direct injection of the vein is the answer.... no hospital treatment, no time off work. All you need do is wear a bandage or a stocking for three days after the procedure and walk for half an hour per day.
Vein Care – Endovenous Laser/Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy Vein Therapy is a technique that involves injecting the veins with a solution, causing them to react and collapse over a period of weeks; vessels are gradually absorbed by the body and fade from view. Treatment is a walk in walk out procedure and is used to eliminate unsightly veins, spider veins, capillaries, either facial veins or varicose veins appearing on the legs and larger veins
Medicare rebates are available.
Endovenous Laser Vein Therapy
This technique is only slightly more invasive than regular laser treatment but can be more effective to treat certain vein concerns. A tiny nearly invisible incision is made near the affected area and insertion of a slim laser probe into the varicose vein. Using ultrasound as a guide, your doctor will use laser pulses to seal the affected vein making results immediately visible. Only local anesthetic is used and patients can return to normal activity immediately.
Reduction of Facial Veins
Broken blood vessels on the face can be both annoying and embarassing, but are unfortunately very much a part of the Australian face and due to years of sun exposure, especially in people with fair skin or a hereditary predisposition.
The Harmony laser available at Ashbrooke can remove these spider veins, without noticeable bruising. The Harmony can also dramatically reduce any overall redness of the face.
In addition, for those people with neck and upper chest redness and blotchiness, from sun exposure, a marked improvement can be achieved with several simple treatment sessions. |
